With the Fast Pace of Business Do You Really Need a Business Plan?

By: Jeremy McCluggage C.Ht.

Like they say in the military, a plan is great until it is implemented then it all goes to hell.
Yet I cannot imagine our military going to war without one.  So how do you deal with it?  A business plan is a guideline and a baseline for your business.  A good business plan will go over the different contingencies that may go wrong and how you are going to deal with those contingencies.

Building a business is challenges building upon challenges and if you are not prepared mentally to deal with them they can overwhelm you.  If you have a group it is easier.  Since you all need one.  Get a group of your entrepreneurial friends together and come up with anything and everything that might go wrong in your business, and theirs.

Then come up with solutions for each of those contingencies.  Your life and your business will run much more smoothly.  I have had businesses that I did not do this and I promise taking a day to do this will keep you from weeks or months of headaches later in your business.

Write a business and marketing plan.  Expect you business to loosely follow it.  Expect for the most important part of it to be your contingency section that most people do not even add to it.  Have a good time and get around others who can help you and who you can bounce ideas off with.
